The Prime Minister of Solomon Islands, Manessah Sogavare, has thrown his support behind Charlot Salwai, ahead of his meeting with Vanuatu’s new prime minister in Port Vila.
Mr Sogavare has stopped off in Vanuatu for the first leg of his regional tour, in his role as chair of the Melanesian Spearhead Group, which will also take him to New Caledonia, Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
He says he has full confidence in Prime Minister Salwai’s ability to provide stability for Vanuatu.
